The programs of the French Institute of Madagascar (IFM) all respond to the theme “ Ccultivate tomorrow “, This year.
“ This theme speaks to all our project managers »underlined Anne Angilbault, the deputy director of the IFM to the press yesterday. She took the opportunity to give an overview of the main lines of this year’s programming.
Youth at the head of the queue. The future will therefore be at the center of this programming which will be resolutely geared towards young people, including actions for adolescents in the media library and multimedia space, but also festivals for young audiences. But cinema will not be left out. A new animated film festival will also be inaugurated this year.
Promotion of emerging talents. It will also involve supporting emerging talents, in particular through a collaboration with the Ony project, a new cultural structure in the capital, which supports developing filmmakers, 3D animation developers and musicians, among others. The common objective is to support these talents and help them develop on the local scene and on the international scene, subsequently.
Innovation. The IFM’s activities will also pay particular attention to digital technology and innovation, essential when we talk about the future, without forgetting the section dedicated to e-sport, another lever of innovation.
Debate of ideas and sustainable development. Ethics, eco-responsibility and sustainable development will also be at the heart of this cultural season, thanks to the Ethical and Sustainable Fashiona project which begins its third edition this year. Furthermore, a strong anchoring on contemporary issues will also be highlighted, through a debate of ideas which will be focused on mental health.
Shared programming. The IFM also wishes to have a shared program with other cultural structures in the capital, as was already the case in the past. This will involve co-organization of events, collaboration with different cultural actors and artists, intended to inspire and help this cultural center to continually find new proposals that can satisfy the public. “ The IFM thus wishes to reaffirm its role as a platform for innovation and dialogue “, has concluded the deputy director of the IFM.
Festive opening tomorrow. Like every year since 2019, the IFM cultural season will officially open with a festive evening, the Taom-baovao evening. It will take place tomorrow evening in the IFM premises from 6:30 p.m. On the program, skateboarding and BMX demonstrations by GorisaGorisa riders, and Freestyle Football, provided by PiFteestyle, under the arcades. But the highlight of the evening will be the highly anticipated presentation show of the cultural season, which was designed and artistically directed by Gad Bensalem this year. This unique show will see the participation of around fifteen artists including musicians, slammers, dancers, among others. This year’s programming will be distilled through a true poetic journey, in order to amaze all the senses, without losing a crumb of what the IFM plans to offer to the public this year. The show might seem unsurprising since it’s an annual event, Gad says, but it will feature plenty of surprising moments. In any case, it’s a very nice way to lift the veil on the different projects that the IFM will deploy this year. Alongside the show, there will also be acoustic music, with Fidy Ratrimoarivony Trio. Finally, Taom-baovao will be closed by a clubbing evening hosted by DJ Manu.
