Barcelona, just two hours away from Marseille, turned out to be an ideal getaway for a weekend. The car trip was simple, and our choice fell on the Ibis hotel for practical and comfortable accommodation.

For a first approach, we opted for the imperial bus. The perfect thing to capture Barcelona essence in record time. From the heart of the city to a hill with panoramic views, we took full eyes.
Aboard this without roof bus, we let ourselves be lulled by the districts, while listening to the anecdotes which give life to the history of the city. A real lesson in open -air history, where the eras are crossed, rocked by exciting comments.
Passion town planning: Barcelona, a school case
As a teacher and consultant in town planning and regional planning, visiting Barcelona is a bit like a dream that comes true for me. This city is a case of school with its urban planning plan so singular and recognized: the famous Cerdà plan, this perfect grid, explained to urban planning students from around the world.
The organization of the roads, with its pedestrian paths, its trams, its buses, and its many green spaces, as well as its monuments testifies to a modern and pleasant vision.
Beach atmosphere: Catalan relaxation, music and flavors
Barcelona beach is a place of life, quite simply. The long pedestrian walk is perfect for a ride. But what has particularly charmed us is the presence of local artists who play there for free. Musicians from all walks of life create a festive and relaxed atmosphere. We stroll while listening to lively music, and we stop to admire the talent of these street artists.
The seaside terraces invite the tasting of local specialties: paella, pan con tomato, or Escalivada, we could not miss, without forgetting beer or wine. We enjoyed every moment of this festive atmosphere.
The Sagrada Familia, a breathtaking masterpiece
Impossible to visit Barcelona without marveling in front of the Sagrada Familia. Already fascinated by the descriptions of this monument in the novel “Origin” of Dan Brown, I was deeply moved to see this masterpiece with my own eyes. Architecture, both inside and outside, is a masterful masterpiece.
The Gaudí genius imprint, essential
Barcelona is inseparable from Gaudí. We explored its emblematic architectural creations: first the Casa Batlló, then the Casa Milà also known as the Pedrera. The two are located on an emblematic avenue in Barcelona, the Passeig de Gràcia.
But beyond the work of this genius, the city is full of surprises. I admit that I myself plunged back into childhood by making me take a picture in front of a statue at least … original: an obese man in full defecation, with the clearly visible “product”. It must be said that humor is also part of the charm of Barcelona.
Camp Nou, small pilgrimage for football fans
Impossible to leave Barcelona without a small foray into the Camp Nou shop, the legendary stadium of FC Barcelona. We put a little of everything for sale: clothing, sports outfits, and other memories in the image of the team and its famous players.
In short, Barcelona is a city that harmoniously combines history, modernity and art of living. A destination to visit absolutely if you are passing through Europe.
