The cultural season at the French Institute of Madagascar (IFM) is off to a strong start this year.
Even before “Taom-baovao”, the official opening evening of said cultural season, a Masterclass intended to introduce the Franco-Malagasy singer Jyeuhair, will take place at the IFM tomorrow from 2 p.m. The public will have the opportunity to discuss with him about his journey, his creative process and his link with Madagascar.
As for the evening Taom-baovao which officially marks the return of the activities of this cultural center for this new year, it will take place next Saturday, January 18.
Each year, the main components of this upcoming season are presented through a unique show during this evening. This year’s show will be by Gad Bensalem, winner of the RFI 2024 Theater Prize, this time.
He will present to the public a 45-minute show which will highlight the major highlights of the coming season such as dance, theater, music, literature and digital technology, among others. An overview of the main speakers who will perform at the IFM will also be given.
Tsiry Rajaobelison, head of cultural events at the IFM, also let some secrets leak out about these highlights. We therefore know that Les Temps Forts Théâtre will return for a second edition, after the success of the first. The Dance Highlights will also resume. But a new festival will appear around May: the animated film festival.
Children will thus be doubly at the center of attention since a new edition of the “Zaza mifety” young audience festival is also planned this year.
Alongside this, the debates will focus on mental health. Finally, the annual must-sees such as the Fête de la Musique in June, the collaboration with Madajazzcar in October and the national slam in December will certainly be there. A rich and diverse cultural year is therefore promised.
The public will already be able to get a taste of all this diversity next Saturday. Taom-baovao is accessible to the public but by invitation. The latter can be collected free of charge from the IFM from today.
