As a travel enthusiast, I always dreamed of discovering Venice. And, like many bloggers, I realized this dream. During my last visit to Europe, I had the chance to spend an unforgettable weekend in this legendary city.
Venice, built on water thanks to an ancestral technique, is a real architectural masterpiece. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and most visited in the world. To discover it, I opted for a gondola promenade to visit the emblematic districts.
Then, in vaporetto, I sailed to three famous islands: Murano, Burano and Torcello. These three lagoon islands each have its own identity. Murano fascinated me with its glass crafts, a tradition of several centuries old. I was able to attend a glass blowing demonstration and admire the finesse of creations.
It was then in Burano that I fell in love. Its bright colored houses, as out of a palette of painter, are absolutely magnificent. The island is also known for its lace, an ancestral know-how that is found in many shops.
Finally, Torcello was a real dive into the history of the lagoon. Water and less touristy than its neighbors, it is considered to be the “Mother of Venice”. There is a unique tranquility, and its Byzantine basilica, with its mosaics, is a treasure not to be missed. This trio of islands offers a journey through time and Venetian crafts.
Between the visits, I took the time to relax on the terraces that run along the canals. It was an opportunity to savor delicious dishes of Venetian cuisine under the sun. Venice is a charming city and the weekend has spent too quickly. This trip will remain one of my best memories.
I was particularly fascinated by the houses and palaces that run along the canals. With their bright colors, from pink to orange through yellow, they add a touch of cheerfulness to the already romantic atmosphere of the city. It is a real symphony of colors that is reflected on the water.
But if Venice is magnificent by day, it becomes downright magical at night. As soon as the sun sets, the city lights up. The sparkling reflections of the lights on the water transform the canals into mirrors of light, which makes the atmosphere even more fantastic. It is an unforgettable show.
