The Tsakaraka festival, the major festival-goers meeting in Vohémar, is fast approaching. It will take place from August 14 to 17 at the city’s municipal stadium.
This festival, more than a sporting and tourist event, is an opportunity to celebrate and share the traditions and culture of the Iharana region, the other name of Vohémar.
Born in 1999 but under another name, this festival experienced a fairly long parenthesis because of the political crisis in 2001. But the festival then returned in force from 2006, and became an unmissable annual meeting until now. The Tsakaraka festival therefore marks its 19th edition this year.
A varied and very rich program awaits festival -goers for this edition. Sports competitions, including a bicycle race, football competitions at 7 or basketball, rooster and moraingy fights, disciplines that the local population also appreciates, will be planned.
But the local population will also be particularly highlighted through the traditional carnival and the Miss and Mister competition.
Even young artists from this locality and surroundings will be placed under the spotlight. They will have the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their talent since they will go on stage just after the festival opening ceremony. But the artists who have an already well established renown throughout Madagascar will not be outdone. 19 artists are invited to this event and will share the scene during the four days of festivities. Among them, there will be Ceasar, Dadi Love, Wawa and Black Nadia headlining. Many are among the ambassadors of Yas Madagascar, one of the major partners of this festival. There will also be Mopcan, Maman’i Tsôlôlô, Parish or Jeddy who are part of the Davalt Records team, a production house which is precisely a fervent partner of this telecommunications operator.
But the public will also be able to party with Arnaah, Anatla, Rijade, Basta Lion and so many others during the shows that will punctuate each day.
The Zanak’iharana Tonga Saina association, the festival organizer, promises in any case atmosphere and conviviality.
