The Ministry of Tourism and Crafts is launching a Call for Expressions of Interest – AMI relating to the development of a tourist transport service in the country.
This land tourist transport service aims to connect the major tourist sites in the South of Madagascar. This project, pooling tourist transport, is part of the ministry’s desire to promote more sustainable tourism and facilitate access to tourist destinations for national and international visitors. It meets the growing demand for tourist transport while offering a smooth and pleasant travel experience, it is emphasized.
Four routes connecting the main tourist sites in the region, such as Morondava, Fianarantsoa, Manakara and Toliara are planned to be implemented under this project, making it easier to visit national parks and cultural attractions.
The tourist buses will have to serve four sections, namely Antananarivo – Fianarantsoa, with a stop in Antsirabe and Ambositra; Fianarantsoa – Toliara, with a stop in Ambalavao and Ranohira; Fianarantsoa – Manakara, with a stop at Ranomafana; and Antsirabe – Morondava, with a stop at Miandrivazo.
An online reservation system, with a minimum visibility of 6 months on the programming of the sections, will be put in place to allow travelers to plan their itinerary in advance, it is indicated.
According to the call for expressions of interest, the implementation and management of the project are entirely private. All costs are the responsibility of the purchaser.
At a minimum, a counter in the departure and arrival cities as well as a kiosk in the stopping cities must be set up. Furthermore, the buyer must provide an operational fleet of a minimum of 5 10-seater cars, including new cars designed for the transport of tourists or groups, adapted to the country’s road infrastructure; air-conditioned with adjustable seats and having a latest generation video and audio system and having panoramic windows.
It should be noted that this pilot project initiated by the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts has been the subject of in-depth technical and financial studies. The buyer of the project has sole discretion over the development of the project, its implementation as well as the entire investment. However, it must comply with the implementation requirements.
