Presumably, we are witnessing a rush, even a stampede, towards the town of Mahajanga in recent days. The excitement and crowds have been noted there since last week.
UNquestionably, Mahajanga will and will always remain the leading national destination in terms of tourism. We are in the middle of high season and the peak will be reached around the middle of August. The second wave of summer visitors and visitors should arrive around mid-August, but we are already seeing a large crowd, especially after the baccalaureate exam. Families are looking to relax and enjoy the sea.
Hotel establishments are already overwhelmed but also relieved. They will not be able to sit idle for a few months watching the comings and goings of customers. Accommodation centers, including private schools such as the FJKM Ziona Vaovao high school in Tsaramandroso Ambony, that of Nicoletta in Mangarivotra, above all, and some public schools, the sisters’ reception center in Amborovy, villas and bungalows in Amborovy , have all been occupied and invaded for ten days.
The various sporting events and competitions, including the national basketball summit in the under-14 category, attracted a lot of people to Mahajanga. For the basketball competition alone, seventy girls and boys teams participate in this Madagascar championship. Since Tuesday, a strong delegation from the Ministry of Health, coming from the solidarity of Madagascar’s health personnel, arrived in Mahajanga.
There are thousands of them, from twenty-three regions of the island, to participate in a large gathering. This is unheard of.
“We are very busy, especially during the month of August. Reservations have already been made for the majority of our customers for several months. Customers generally stay at least three to ten days, or even fifteen, in our establishment. We can still arrange the rooms in relation to their date of reservation and stay,” explained a manager of a four-star hotel in Mahajanga.
Pedestrian street
“Our apartment is already booked for the month of August and for ten days. But since July, vacationers have occupied our two duplexes for five days. The house is equipped and we provide customers with gas as energy for cooking,” underlined an owner of a private apartment in Mahajanga.
“We found a house near the sea, because it is important for us to have the beach during our stay in Mahajanga,” also indicated a tourist coming from the capital.
The coastline by the sea and the tourist town are very lively, especially in the evening. The road to Boulevard Poincaré has been closed from July 15 until September 15. The lane is one-way, because the other part of the road, from the Bianco headquarters to the Central Bank, is occupied by the various devices, including Ferris wheels, rides, bumper cars, trampolines and so on. other activities. This part of the road is transformed into a pedestrian street until the end of the summer holidays.
