After the resounding success of the first edition in 2023, this event, which has become unmissable, returns with a rich and diverse program, highlighting the fascinating history of the pirates, once masters of these lands.
Sainte-Marie Island, a true tourist pearl of Madagascar, is preparing to host the second edition of the “Pirate Festival”. Organized by the LCDF association (Le Circuit de Forban), in partnership with Orange Madagascar and the Sainte-Marie Tourist Office, this festival promises three days of cultural, sporting and artistic activities. Through sports competitions, open-air shows and evenings hosted by renowned artists, the island will become a true pirate den. One of the flagship activities of this edition will be the great treasure hunt, a physical and strategic challenge where team spirit will be put to the test. Carine Lefriec, marketing and commercial communications director of Orange Madagascar, underlines the importance of this event in promoting the Sainte-Marie destination: “Orange Madagascar’s attachment to Malagasy values is materialized by an active contribution to the socio-economic development of the country. We wish to promote its cultural heritage and its tourist potential. »
Challenges to overcome
Indeed, at the heart of this celebration is the “Pirate Island” tourist circuit, launched in July 2023. This route, which immerses visitors in the history of piracy in Sainte-Marie, constitutes one of the main attractions of the island. Tourists will be able to explore emblematic places such as the Vieux-Fort, Île aux Forbans and the pirate cemetery. Anita Rakotomalala, event sponsorship manager at Orange Madagascar, adds: “The treasure hunting competition will require real team cohesion, values that we defend at Orange. In addition, it will definitely take physical and strategic effort to win.” By bringing together local and international visitors, the Pirate Festival is an exceptional event and a vibrant tribute to the history of Sainte-Marie and a driving force behind its tourist development.
