Emirates launched flights to Madagascar on September 3, 2024, providing more choice and connectivity for travelers, and promoting tourism and business travel to the country. For Madagascar’s Ministry of Tourism, this strategic connection not only strengthens cultural and economic ties between the Big Island, but also propels the country onto the international scene by bringing it closer to the rest of the world.
Emirates’ new Dubai-Antananarivo route will provide connectivity to more than 140 destinations across its global network, supporting the Ministry of Tourism’s strategy to diversify target markets and introduce international travelers to the many natural attractions of the island. According to the company, flight schedules have been scheduled to optimize connections to and from major points in Europe, the Far East, Western Asia and the Middle East/GCC, which will boost international travel to and from Madagascar.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts, each region of the country will benefit from this progress. Thanks to seamless connections between Emirates and Madagascar Airlines flights, travelers will now be able to reach popular destinations like Nosy Be, Fort Dauphin, Tuléar, Tamatave, Majunga, and Sainte-Marie in less than an hour and a half , he says. In addition, Madagascar plans to open a direct air link between Dubai and Nosy Be, aiming to expand its air network. With this in mind, the State is already planning the construction of several five-star hotels in Nosy Be, with the aim of transforming this region into a flagship destination in the Indian Ocean, and even beyond. On the occasion of the inauguration of the air link with the United Arab Emirates, around ten media and influencers based in Dubai were also invited on an eductour to the north of Madagascar, in order to promote the destination.
As a reminder, the Dubai-Antananarivo route will be served by the Boeing 777-300ER, with 8 suites in First Class, 42 suites in Business Class and 310 seats in Economy Class. Emirates SkyCargo offers 22 tonnes of hold cargo capacity to and from Antananarivo each week to transport key cargo quickly and reliably.
