
The 79th anniversary of India’s independence was celebrated in a friendly atmosphere at the India residence located in Analamahitsy during the day of August 15. She was commemorated in the presence of the Indian community of Madagascar and the friends of India in the morning.
After the lifting of the flag and the reading by Sem Bandaru Wilsonbabu, Ambassador of India to Madagascar, of the speech of the President of India, the Honorable Rashtrapati SMT. Droupadi Murmu on this occasion, the celebration was marked by dynamic yoga performance. Members of the Indian community and local students learning the Hindi at the embassy also participated in the festivities, through songs of patriotic hymns.
A much more official reception was then given by the ambassador and his wife in the afternoon. Among the guests were several ministers including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rafaravavitafika Rasata; Among others, the president of the Senate, Richard Ravalomanana and several other personalities.
In his speech, the Indian ambassador has reaffirmed India’s commitment to share his development experience and expertise according to Madagascar’s needs and priorities, in accordance with the Mahasagar vision, which concerns mutual and holistic progress for security and growth between regions.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rafaravavitafika Rasata, for her part, reaffirmed Madagascar’s commitment to further deepen her partnership with India, in particular in the fields of capacity building, sustainable development and maritime security, not forgetting to express his gratitude to the Indian government for its support for the training of Malagasy officials in various fields.
The event was concluded with colorful cultural benefits of members of the Indian community as well as young students from Hindi and Yoga classes. A special exhibition on the history of the Indian national flag was also presented on this occasion, as part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign. This is a campaign launched in India to encourage citizens to hoist the national flag, the Tiranga, at home on the occasion of the Independence Festival.
