A double ceremony took place yesterday at the National Library Anosy as part of the launch of the celebration of the International Francophonie Day. Focusing on the theme “I follow up, so I act”, the celebration presents itself on several aspects.
A competition for young people was organized in the Center for Reading and Cultural Animation (CLAC) of the capital two weeks ago. The competition has been available in different categories including the writing, reading, poetry competition and through the game ” Questions for a champion ». The winners of the competition received their prize during the ceremony held on the forecourt of the National Library yesterday.
But this ceremony was also an opportunity for the International Organization of La Francophonie or the OIF to testify to the strengthening of its commitment to the Malagasy government in the context of the collaboration between the two parties. This partnership that has lasted for decades has enabled access to reading and knowledge to be strengthened thanks to the implementation of 27 clac in 17 regions of the Big Island. As a reminder, the clacs have been created by the OIF since 1985 in 22 member countries to strengthen access to reading, education and culture, especially in landlocked areas. Madagascar has benefited from this program since 2001. On the occasion of this year’s celebration, a project to strengthen 27 Clac in Madagascar is underway. It should be recalled that these 27 huts are coordinated by the National Library, placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Communication and Culture. Moreover, a joint assessment has just been carried out at the level of these reading centers with the aim of modernizing and revitalizing the network. To materialize this strengthening of engagement, the OIF offered management tools and textbooks intended for these 27 clacks. “” Advanced training for librarians will also be planned, among other activities, as part of this strengthening », Announces Georges Nakseu Nguefang, the representative of the OIF.
The ceremony of yesterday was closed by visiting the Clac located in the premises of the National Library, and the exhibition on the various Missions of the OIF. A more festive celebration of this World Day will be carried out tomorrow, March 20, D -Day of the celebration itself. It will be at the Modern Lycée Ampefiloha.
