The NGO ADES Madagascar is committed to preserving Madagascar’s forests and livelihoods by producing solar and energy-efficient cookers while investing in reforestation projects, in addition to popularizing environmental education.
During the last reforestation campaign, this promoter planted 356,000 young plants, 36% of these species are planted to provide wood energy and the other 23% are intended for the development of agro-forestry. “Still of these 356,000 reforested young plants, 34% of them are made up of native species reserved for forest restoration while the remaining 7% are made up of bamboo species with rapid growth potential that we have just cultivate in our areas of intervention. The objective is to manufacture bamboo pellets which are wood pellets obtained from the exploitation of bamboo stems and which will be used as fuel », explained Jean Sendrahasina Andriananjaniaina, the executive director of education and reforestation within ADES Madagascar.

Still within the framework of promoting these green investments, this NGO is committed to contributing not only to the restoration of forest landscapes in Madagascar to fight against climate change but also to improving food security by developing agro -forestry including food crops. “In fact, the development of reforestation of eucalyptus species intended for wood energy requires at least seven years to be exploitable while the partner village communities are very vulnerable.
