The preparation of the reception of tourists is in full swing in Nosy Be, this paradise island located 31 kilometers northwest of Madagascar, which intends to find its visitors ! It will indeed reopen its borders to international travelers from 1er Next October, as announced in early August by the President of the Republic of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina.
The health security of the local population and visitors prevails above all ; Thus, health hygiene protocols adapted to each business in the sector have been drawn up by the National Office of Tourism in Madagascar (ONTM), on mandate of the Ministry of Transport, Tourism and Meteorology (MTTM) and in partnership with the Confederation of Tourism of Madagascar (CTM) and the Ministry of Public Health. For the implementation of the protocols set out is effective at all levels for each sector in the tourism sector, a series of training has been organized from September 2 to 15 in Nosy Be for supervisors and staff (hotel, catering, and tourist providers), as well as self -employed workers such as taxi guides and drivers, or more than 2,500 people trained in the field. The engagement of the destination was pushed to the design of 10 educational video spots of 2 minutes per business to facilitate the learning of protocols by the staff of the sector. The operators who participated in the training signed a charter committing them to respect the protocols, to affix posters provided by the Ministry of Tourism on barrier gestures specific to tourism in common rooms and spaces, and to facilitate the controls that the authorities will carry out to verify compliance with commitments. On the other hand, and at the initiative of its Ravinala Airport manager (Paris Airport partner), Fascène Airport in Nosy Be now benefits from more extensive reception spaces, in order to allow passengers to respect social distancing during registration or landing formalities.
For its reopening to international tourism, the island of Nosy Be will be served by the airline Ethiopian Airlines, at the rate of three flights per week from 1er october.
Local authorities have defined a set of measures for travelers, including the need to have a return ticket during the landing, the obligation to present on arrival the negative result of a PCR test carried out 72 hours before boarding and the detention of a local telephone chip or, failing that, an operational international chip, to facilitate contact. Carrying out a 72 -hour PCR test before departure if the country of destination is required, is also offered to travelers.
Even if the trips will initially limit themselves to the island of Nosy Be and its archipelagos, tourists will not tire of exploring the exceptional fauna and flora of national land parks – shelters of the famous endemic lemurs – and sailors, conducive not only to dive but also to various nautical activities such as sports fishing, kite or windsurf, Snorkeling.
