A tourist guide was seriously injured during an attack dahaloat the start of the week. The man who works in the Bemaraha National Park has been accompanying tourists to the heart of the Tsingy for years. He is alive, but is paralyzed, after being hit in the spine by a shot, while he was traveling in the direction of Morondava. He was transported in critical condition to Antananarivo, L’Express de Madagascar tells us.
The National Guides Federation (FNG) denounces this tragic attack on its Facebook page. An incident condemned by the Madagascar Tourism Confederation (CTM) who is worried about the sector, if the insecurity is not stopped.
THE CTMin its press release to the government, underlines: “Insecurity is one of the most important factors slowing down the development of the tourism sector in Madagascar. It harms economic recovery projects. However, tourism has just gone through a very tough period, as it was one of the sectors hardest hit by the impact of Covid-19, with 84% of its professionals unemployed and a loss of 800 million ofeuros”.
The Committee does not limit itself to observations, it also wishes to propose avenues for reflection, specifies 2424.mg : “THE CTM promises to provide appropriate guidance and recommendations for better implementation of provisions in favor of the security of the population”.
