The Poseidon, another haven of peace in Mahajanga

The Poseidon, another haven of peace in Mahajanga – Rasamy Blog

The ecolodge The Poseidon is located about 70km from the town of Mahajanga in the northwest of Madagascar. To get there, by sea, you have to take a motor boat near the large bridge at the tourist village of Mahajanga. By land, the site is only accessible by buggy but not by car. Access by air is also made possible thanks to a small airstrip which has just been built near the site.

By sea, the journey takes just under two hours. The adventure begins with a good sea trip aboard a speedboat before arriving at a small port that the ecolodge has installed in a locality belonging to the Municipality of Marosakoa. From there, you still have to follow a 7km sandy track aboard a buggy along the coast before arriving at the final destination.

Located in an isolated location by the sea, the ecolodge has five bungalows, with a maximum capacity of 10 people. Here, there is no telephone network or internet. A great opportunity to recharge your batteries and isolate yourself from the rest of the world. The entire site runs on solar energy. Electricity and drinking water are available 24 hours.

The bungalows, which are built mainly using local materials, have a beautiful view of nature thanks to the large bay windows and the private terrace. The interior is relatively simple but very clean.

They are also distinguished by their roofless outdoor showers and dry toilets. As their name suggests, these do not require any water resources but instead add sawdust after each use.

In addition to the bungalows, the ecolodge also has a lounge, a fitness room and a billiards table as well as a massage room and a small restaurant. All of the infrastructure always has a breathtaking view of the sea.

On the program, in addition to relaxing, you have a huge, almost deserted fine sand beach as far as the eye can see, and a relatively calm sea for swimming. It’s a real natural swimming pool with fairly deep water, and at the same time a little warm thanks to the sun which beats down hard for almost the whole day.

The site is also nestled in the heart of a coastal forest which is still home to four species of lemurs, two of which are diurnal and two nocturnal. We also note the more or less strong presence of lizards and endemic Malagasy tree species, without forgetting the relatively large abundance of wild boars. Going for a hike in this secondary forest is one of the activities to do.

The hike can also continue with a visit to a village called Berafia which is located a few kilometers from the site, crossing coastal forest, mangroves and rice fields.

To stay there, the ecolodge only offers a full board option due to its isolation. The meals are refined, hearty and very varied.

In short, if you are looking for an isolated place to escape from the world and recharge your batteries in Mahajanga, the Le Poseidon ecolodge can very well satisfy you, a true haven of peace.
