The first edition of the Tafan-Gilita festival, the Malagasy festival dedicated to the acoustic guitar in Madagascar, will be the perfect opportunity to find on stage the flagship groups, pioneers of the Revy Gilitaor musical culture inspired by the acoustic guitar.
It should be noted that without these artists, the Revy Gilitaa real musical culture born in the 1970s, would not have emerged. Dama, one of the members of Mahaleo, also underlined it during a conference organized on the sidelines of the festival, at the CGM Analakely yesterday:
“” If Raoul, Nônô and Dadah had not made their own guitar, the Mahaleo group would not even have existed, since we would have had no instrument to use. »»
If the first guitars come from Europe -from Spain more precisely -, at the time, Malagasy models appeared, giving free rein to the ingenuity of the first followers, who play them in the Malagasy or the Bà -Gasy way, according to techniques that are not found anywhere else.
It would only be justice if Mahaleo, Tselonina, Njila, Erick Manana, Kolibera, Feo Gasy and Lôlô Sy Ny Tariny, big names in this field precisely, were honored through a hat during this festival, to show them the recognition due to them, to have gilita Over time.
The organizers of Mi’ritsoka Production specify that it is only the first edition of the festival, since other artists have also marked the history of the Revy Gilita.
But the festival will also be a rare opportunity to raise the group Lôlô Sy Ny Tariny on a large scene. Five members of the group established abroad are already within our walls to participate in this festival. Dina, the drummer; Gôda, the percussionist; Ra Play, the bassist; Pasy, at the Valiha; And Erick Manana on the guitar, will therefore be there, with Benny and Bebey, to close every evening of the festival by a major unprecedented concert which will take place tomorrow evening, and the last day of the festival, Sunday September 14.
As a reminder, the last time the group experienced a gathering of this scale dates back to 2023, during the concert Feo Sy Gitara at the Coliseum, testifying to the scarcity of the show.
They will take up the titles that marked the 1970s, 80s and 90s during these two concerts, promising a new and authentic musical journey, full of nostalgia. In addition, the directory of each concert will be completely different for these two dates.
But the festival does not turn its back in the future. The Tafan-Gilita competition, which highlights the future talents of the guitar, will be closed during this festival. After the semi-final of the contest of tomorrow morning, the lucky winner will be unveiled this Sunday, and will receive on this occasion the lots intended for him. So go to the Barea Mahamasina stadium for a complete immersion in the world of “Revy Gilita”.
