The Star Tour, the cultural event deployed in the Cité des Fleurs from August 15 to 17, was also an opportunity for the star, an organizing company, to implement social actions and engaged in the fight against plastic pollution. Initiatives combined in favor of the promotion of culture, the culture of eco-responsibility and community solidarity.
“” These initiatives are part of the strengthening of our positioning as a responsible industry, involved in the circular economy, environmental protection and local solidarity », Underlines Fanu Raveloarison, institutional communication manager and CSR for the star.
Kopakelatra collection bins have been installed on the Star Tour site to initiate residents and vacationers to sorting waste.
In addition, a dynamic mobilization against plastic pollution was carried out in several districts, notably in Tsaramandroso, Tsararano and Antanimasaja, from August 14 to 18. The emblematic beaches of Majunga, very busy during this vacation period, also benefited from these awareness -raising and collection of plastic waste. All these actions were carried out in collaboration with Mada Compost, a private company specializing in the recycling of plastic waste.
Mada Compost recorded a record collection after these actions: more than 2,600 kilos of plastic waste collected in 5 days. These will be transformed into self-locking pavers, flower pots, bricks or brooms.
This environmental awareness campaign has focused on responsible management of used plastic bottles, a major issue for the preservation of coastal ecosystems in the region. These awareness campaigns will now continue periodically in Majunga.
According to Mihajasoa Andriamiadana, first manager of Mada Compost:
“” Before installing collection bins in the neighborhoods, it is necessary to explain to the community, vacationers and merchants their usefulness, as well as the environmental issues represented by plastic waste. »»
Discussions are also underway with the region, with a view to deploying a civic education program in the Boeny region.
On the sidelines of this, the star provided immediate support to the young Mothers of Majunga by offering birth kits and vive water packs at the Fantenana clinic and maternity, on August 13, thus illustrating his commitment to sustainable development and community solidarity in Madagascar.
