When it comes to politics, Madagascar attracts the attention of people around the world. After successive crises, notably that of 2009 which is considered by some politicians as a real “coup d’état” and the long transition period, the election has just been well and truly carried out, which now allows the Malagasy population to to have a new president (the first president of the fourth republic).

Relations with the IMF

The long periods of crisis did not allow the Malagasy State to benefit, for several years, from aid from investors, which has repercussions on all areas, particularly economic and social. But, now, relations between Madagascar and the IMF (International Monetary Fund) are fully restored, after the upsetting situations especially in the political universe of 6 years. This decision is certainly the fruit of the missions carried out between the end of January and February 15. The victory, that is to say the normalization of relations, was revealed during the council of ministers of March 13, 2014 in the State of Iavoloha.

The appointment of the Prime Minister

The President of the Malagasy Republic has not yet taken the initiative to appoint the Prime Minister, following certain conflicts linked to respect for the decree relating to the parliamentary majority. This decree underlines, in fact, that the prime minister must come from the party with the greatest number of deputies, a decision which certainly does not meet the expectations of the new president. During his absence for the meeting with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Kin Moon and other people enjoying high responsibility with the United Nations, the former Prime Minister of the transition must still ensure the smooth running of state affairs with his government.

Politics in general

Without a doubt, apart from the possibilities of small conflicts relating to the appointment of the Prime Minister, Madagascar is, currently, on the verge of encountering peace in the world of politics. It is therefore not surprising if suppliers are beginning to reestablish good relations with the State after long years of non-intervention, a situation which will surely breathe fresh air into different areas of the life of Malagasy people, particularly economic ones, social, political and cultural.

Small conflicts at the heart of politics

As in many states, Madagascar is subject to small internal conflicts which do not have serious consequences on the smooth running of state affairs. For example, in March 2014, the President of the National Assembly did not agree with the neglect of the institution under her leadership. Indeed, the permanent office of the National Assembly did not receive any invitation for the swearing-in ceremony of the 3 new judges of the HCC (High Constitutional Court). According to her, the HCC totally neglects the National Assembly, its permanent office as well as its members, even though it is the fruit of the elections.

Global vision

Overall, Malagasy politics is on the right path towards real stability. All that is missing is the appointment of the Prime Minister!
