Jyeuhair in concert in Madagascar: Imminent meetings with the Malagasy public

Jyeuhair, the organizers and partners of the event, faced the press yesterday at the YAS Andraharo Campus.

Jyeuhair, the Franco-Malagasy rapper and songwriter, will give his very first concerts in Madagascar tomorrow evening and in the evening of Saturday January 11. This will be done at Ony House Ambatobe.

An organization of Ony projects. Real name Jason E. Rhobinson, Jyeuhair was born in 1995 in Guyana. His parents are both Malagasy but he lived between Guyana, Marseille and Madagascar, before settling in Caen, the same city of residence as Orelsan, a detail which in some way influenced this concert project in Madagascar .

Indeed, these two concerts will be organized by ONY projects, with the support of Yas Madagascar, among other partners. “Ony projects” are an initiative by Ahélya Randriambolaina and her husband, Orelsan, for the promotion of Malagasy cultural and creative industries. “Jyeuhair is a perfect representation of the creative power of Madagascar and the Malagasy diaspora », underlines Nicolas Auriault, the General Director of Ony projects.

Versatile artist. An artist at heart, this young urban poet has been interested in music since he was 5 years old. He has been writing and composing his music since he was 13. Already having two EPs to his credit and several singles, his latest album was released in November 2024. He was revealed to a wider audience thanks to his participation in season 3 of the show Nouvelle École, which appears on Netflix at summer 2024. Jyeuhair has stage versatility and a great ability to adapt to various styles of music. He is, moreover, an artistic director and video editor, and also endowed with talents of beatmaker.

His style and creativity, and the fact that he is Malagasy, made Ony projects think of organizing these concerts with him.

Back to basics.

This is good for Jyeuhair who has deeply rooted in him the thirst to reconnect with this part of his roots which has been physically distant from him. It’s been 16 years since he last came to the country. But above all it is about highlighting his origins through his works. Moreover, projects and dreams around Madagascar, with Malagasy artists,… are already abounding in his head: “ songs in Malagasy or compositions based on existing Malagasy songs…collaborations… » he explains evasively, while specifying “ already have something in the oven ”, in his own words. Jyeuhair just wants to preserve the surprise to talk about it in due time.

As for the two upcoming performances, he declares himself ready and even looks forward to meeting his audience. An opportunity not to be missed for the 200 lucky people who will be expected each evening, a limit imposed by the capacity of the place.

Joyce Mena, a rising artist, will open for the show, which begins at 7 p.m. each evening.

But in addition to these musical performances, a sharing session on the life, journey and experiences of Jyeuhair will be open free to the public at the same location on Saturday January 11 afternoon. This masterclass session will be led by the IFM team.
