A sparkling and solid personality, Arotia Christelle Raholiariniaina offered a recital yesterday in the middle of the afternoon to AFT Andavamamba. She interpreted works by recognized and less known, but essential composers there of classical music. The public was able to appreciate the pieces of Fritz Kreisler, Antonin Dvorak, and Franz Schubert among others. A few minutes before her recital, the musician with a touching and air game was questioned about her violinist career.
Midi Madagasikara: Can you summarize your journey to us?
Arotia Christelle Raholiariniaina: I started playing at a very young age with a musical awakening course in 2014. I started playing the violin at CGM Analakely in the music section, it lasted seven years. I took lessons, my teacher is Henri Casimir Rakotoniaina. So far, I still work my songs with him.
Midi Madagasikara: With an experience of eleven years of violin, how to tackle a scene?
ACR: It depends on the repertoire acquired from the teacher. When you are going to do a concert, you have to prepare several pieces. There is a certain requirement from the public and the organizers who suggest a type of repertoire. This is based on that I choose which song I will play.
Midi Madagasikara: What was offered to the public for your concert (yesterday at AFT Andavamamba)?
ACR: My repertoire for this concert is made up of rather melodic songs. They demanded more melody and less technique. For the choice of interpretations, we focused more on melodies than on composers.
Midi Madagasikara: What are you looking for in a composition?
ACR: When a composer creates a song, he wants to tell something. You can see this by browsing the scores and through the song. It’s a bit like reading a book. It is clear with a book. In music, at the beginning it is quieter in musicality. Then in the middle, there is like a blockage, then it accelerates. At the end, there is always the resolution.
Midi Madagasikara: Is the Internet for you an inseparable tool for the musician currently?
ACR: It was by looking at musicians played on the internet that I really acquired my motivation. However, videos on the Internet will never replace a teacher. For example, the tips on YouTube do not know your weaknesses while a teacher is there, present, and can help you target and erase them. And when you have the capacity to interpret the song, you can exploit your emotions.
Midi Madagasikara: You talk about emotions, an indescribable concept…
ACR: Everyone can play, but everyone will play a title in different ways. There are some who are rather aggressive, however it is necessary to highlight the vulnerability of the song. If by playing I am not focused on the song, I am a little lost sometimes. The first weakness in the violin is the lack of perseverance especially in rehearsals. Otherwise, you can flank on stage.
